GUAVA - Nutritional Facts and Health Benefits

GUAVA, Scientific Name : Psidium Guajava
Believed to have originated from Mexico, Guava, called bayabas in the Philippines from where it is very abundant, is a very nutritious fruit from which lots of health benefits can be derived. Not only is the fruit nutritious, other parts of the Guava tree have been considered medicinal, specifically its leaf. In the Philippines, in the old days, during a circumcision, the person who will be circumcised is required to chew guava leaves. The chewed leaves were then patched to the penis to stop the bleeding and cure the wounds.

Aside from its use in circumcision, guava leaves were also used for treating Diarrhea, Diabetes, Fever, and Dysentery. Studies are also being done to check its potential to cure Cancer.
